There has been a growing trend of body acceptance and positivity that has been sweeping through the online world, but a lot of women have still not heard the gospel of self-love that can help them build confidence and be proud of getting out there. Here, we’re going to look at some tips that can help you get to love your body.

Get to know your body shape

We all have a different shape, with different proportions, but most women tend to fit one of four body types: pear, hourglass, apple, or straight. None of these body types are superior or inferior, but getting to know which one you are can help you find outfits that fit them better. For instance, pear-shaped women tend to have great hips to accentuate, while apple-shaped women may not have as much of a waist. As such, you can better learn which strengths to build on with your outfits.

Learn how to flaunt what you got

Learning your body shape can help you get a better idea of which features of your body might be your strengths, but every woman has their individual favorites and there are plenty of ways to learn how to better flaunt your strengths. Tips on accentuating your favorite features can help you find which staples and signature pieces will best fit your wardrobe.

Be kind to yourself and others

Many women tend to scrutinize their own appearance, and it is a habit that should be stopped as soon as possible. However, scrutinizing other women and being in a position to be demeaned over your appearance can help you develop negative body attitudes that then go on to reflect on how you see yourself, as well. The more charitable an eye you lend to the outside world, the more likely you are to be kind to yourself, too.

Accept that it’s just a number

A lot of anxiety and self-neglect are caused by what is little more than numbers in a chart. The sooner that you accept that you shouldn’t be “aiming” for smaller numbers, the sooner you can start wearing clothes that look better on you. For instance, plus-size tights will look infinitely better on the women they fit and are more likely to be a practical choice for everyday wear, to boot.

Make health the priority

Loving your body and aiming for a healthy lifestyle are not two entirely separate things. However, when it comes to dieting or fitness, it’s important that losing weight is not the primary priority, but that health remains your primary focus. Fixating too much on a number on the scales emphasizes unhealthy body standards that can lead to internalizing the negative body attitudes mentioned above.

With the tips above, you have all you need to get to better know your body, its strengths, and how to love it with the right fashion choices. Above all else, however, dress in a way that makes you feel confident.
