Getting away for any kind of trip has been tricky lately. Depending on where you live in the world, there could still be some travel restrictions in place. But if you are itching to go somewhere new, and you live in an area where you are able to do so, then what do you pack for a last-minute weekend getaway? Here are some of your must-have essentials.

Good-quality bag
Having a good-quality bag, like a large leather duffle bag is a must for any trips away. You want to fit everything that you need all in one place, but not have to worry that it will give way or break, as soon as you’ve packed it. Choosing a material like leather, or another weather-proof material, is a good idea too, just in case you get caught in the rain.
Travel-sized toiletries
Depending on where you are going for a quick weekend trip, there may be some toiletries at the hotel or other place of accommodation. However, if you’re staying with friends or somewhere like an Airbnb, then it is a good idea to have your own things with you. No need to take the big sized version of all of your shampoos and lotions; choose travel-sized options and you’ll save yourself a lot of luggage space.
Chargers
Although you are only going for a short trip away, you will need to take all of the things that you will need to charge your devices. This could be a phone, laptop, camera, and so on. A good tip, to save you some space from taking multiple chargers and bulky plug heads, is to take one, and then have USB versions of the cables. Then they can all take turns plugging into the same plug.
Hat and sunglasses
The kind of hat that you decide to take will depend on the season that we are in. However, always take a hat with you. Colder weather? You’ve got something to keep you warm. Warmer weather? You can keep cool in the sun. Sunglasses work all year round, so make sure that you have a pair packed in your bag at all times.
Books
Wherever you are going, it is a good time to make it a time to rest and relax. Step away from your phone or work emails for a weekend, and think about getting back to basics with some hobbies that you enjoy. You might have time to read a book, have a bath, and do some yoga. A change can be as good as a rest, so having a change of scenery can work wonders for how you feel.
Snacks
Having some snacks with you, as well as a reusable water bottle, is an idea that just keeps on helping. You don’t know where the stores will be if you are going somewhere new, so having something to hand will make sure there are no hangry incidents on your travels.
Of course, you’ll need to pack all of your clothes and personal items, but even then you won’t need to take much. Focus on what you’ll do when you get to your destination, and you’ll be a winner.
