With National Tequila Day taking place this Sunday, I wanted to see if you were working on any cocktail stories to celebrate the occasion. If so, I’m including some options from Lobos 1707 Tequila and Mezcal below.
The drink recipes below were newly created for the summer of 2022, and are twists on classic cocktails – swapping in two varieties of tequila to create a Tequila Mai Tai, and trading gin for mezcal to make a Mezcal White Negroni.
Mezcal White Negroni
- 1 oz Lobos 1707 Mezcal
- 1oz dry Vermouth
- 1 oz Suze Liqueur
- 3 dash grapefruit bitters
Method: Shake over ice and strain into a rocks glass over one large ice cube. Garnish with a grapefruit twist.
Tequila Mai Tai
- 1 oz Lobos 1707 Reposado Tequila
- 1 oz Lobos 1707 Joven Tequila
- 0.5 oz dry Curacao
- 0.5 oz fresh lime juice
- 0.5 oz orgeat syrup
Method: Shake and strain over fresh pebble ice in a Collins glass. Garnish with an Angostura bitters floater, mint sprig, and a dried lime wheel.
