Human beings are the most complex creatures on earth. No matter how many times we observe beautiful creatures in deep depths of the oceans, soaring birds in the great mountains of the Himalayas, or small critters scurrying around; we are never as blown away as we are learning about ourselves. It’s because we’re that interesting! The human race has a right to be arrogant in this regard, we are not the most amazing animal physically, but our mind is an infinite maze of ideas, problem-solving abilities, and sadly, worries and anxieties. So now that life is in perpetual lockdown, how have we coped with no longer living a normal healthier life? Well, moderation has gone out the window!
Why wait syndrome
Be honest, you’ve been guilty of the why-wait syndrome. This is a syndrome that has taken the world by storm. Rather than waiting for Christmas day, people began to open presents, eat their giant turkeys and start swigging the wine a little early. On the one hand one could say, why not? But on the other hand, self-indulgence and a complete lack of impulse control have led to people putting on lockdown weight. When we are overweight, it leads to depression, headaches, withdrawals of sugars, and mood swings. That is the least you need right about now, right? Stuck indoors, with other people, is not going to be bearable when you are both getting on each other’s nerves. So, don’t give in to the why-wait syndrome, and stick to the usual dates for holidays and personal celebrations.
You’re not alone
Life in moderation has become the last thing people want to adhere to in their lockdown living situation. Some of us are by ourselves, haven’t had human contact in a while, and perhaps have even lost our jobs. This has led to countless people, resorting to a complete lack of will which results in things like substance abuse. We get it. It’s tough. It’s one of the most difficult periods in human history. However, you don’t have to face it alone. Read this American Addiction Centers review and learn about how this organization has helped thousands of people like you or a loved one. Group therapy is complemented by individual therapy. They also, stave off boredom and keep your mind active so you don’t feel the need to fill in a mental gap.
Watched it all?
If you have been locked inside for months on end, you have probably watched everything there is on Netflix or Amazon Prime. However, you have probably not read every book in your house. So why not, pick up a book and take yourself down incredible journeys? Kindle, Audible, and Google Books all have sales on books right now. See if you can find a novel or autobiography that you would like to consume, and curl up on the sofa, in peace and quiet instead.
Living in moderation is not far fetched during a lockdown. But it’s not easy. We hope that we have given you some ideas of how to cope with your own needs and pitfalls, and you stay safe during this time.
