If you are keen to remain active during the time of the coronavirus crisis, you might find the whole lockdown thing a little bit of a challenge. As cases of Covid-19 begin to rise yet again, the threat of another lockdown looms for many. Across the globe, people have been forced to shift to a new normal of cooking at home, staying indoors, meeting up with only a couple of friends in an outside space, and limiting their spending. This all sounds pretty boring for the more social butterflies among us. Think about beating your pandemic boredom by following these simple steps.

Get Outside

Being cooped up all day every day isn’t anybody’s idea of fun. To banish the boredom, think about heading outdoors as often as possible. The benefits of surrounding yourself with nature have been well documented. Absorbing Vitamin D has great benefits for your skin and immune system. The greenery stimulates the release of dopamine, the happy hormone, meaning that your blood pressure can lower and your circadian rhythm can be regulated leading to a better sleep pattern.

Being active outdoors is also a lot of fun. You might be keen to take up horse-riding again. Investing in your own horse to nurture and care for could be just the focus you need. There are plenty of horse transportation services out there to help you move your filly from the stables to the training ground. Alternatively, you might want to take up cycling or jogging in an effort to channel your energies and keep fit and active during challenging times.

Learn Something New

Your mind can become inactive during a period of lockdown which can lead to intrusive and negative thoughts taking over your headspace. To combat this, you need to channel your thoughts down healthier avenues. Consider taking up a new hobby and following a long-held passion that you have had. If you’ve always wanted to learn Spanish, now is your chance to log onto some free online lessons. You might want to check out some vlogs to help you learn the guitar. Or maybe, you want to dust off those old recipe books and get back in the kitchen cooking up some gastronomic feasts. By keeping your brain active, you have less chance of becoming anxious or staying bored.

Stay Social

Just because we have to stay physically distant, this doesn’t mean that we can’t remain social. People living alone have found this global pandemic particularly hard. We are social animals and long to hug our family and friends. Just because you can’t do this doesn’t mean that you can’t head online and organize a regular virtual get-together via Skype or Zoom. Partake in a weekly quiz, a lockdown disco, or a simple catch-up over a meal. Staying social is a great way to ward off boredom. Having that weekly appointment also gives you something to look forward to. This is crucial when everything around us seems so negative.

Follow this guide and you can beat your pandemic boredom.
