4 Ways To Relieve Your Chronic Hip Pain

July 14, 2024

Hip pain is one of the most common types of pain that people suffer from today. It’s right up there with back pain, and it’s also something that people of all ages and lifestyles are dealing with. Before, you’d associate hip pain with the elderly, pregnant women, or athletes. Now, young people are complaining about it, and it’s a serious problem.

Thankfully, there are ways to relieve chronic hip pain. Actually, let’s rephrase that: there are easy ways to relieve chronic hip pain. The following ideas can provide instant relief when done immediately, or long-term relief when carried on…

Stretching

Sometimes, your hip pain is more of a muscular thing than anything else. There are so many muscles around the hip, and they can all get very tight and knotty if you’re not careful. Usually, this happens when you sit for long periods, so getting up and stretching can work wonders. Stretching different muscles in your hip can free the joint and reduce your pain. Of course, you should get your hip assessed by a professional to know which stretches will work best for you.

Massages

Likewise, massages work wonders when you have hip pain. Again, they can reduce tightness in muscles and create more space around the hip joint. You can go for a professional massage to ease your pain – sports massages are recommended as they get deep into the hip and move your leg around to create more motion in the joint to further reduce the pain. Or, you can massage your hip at home using something like a Theragun, or even a simple lacrosse ball.

Change your sitting position

Do you always sit with your legs crossed? Are you one of those people that can’t sit at a desk without tucking one leg under you? If so, your sitting position is probably what’s causing a lot of your hip pain. By simply changing the way you sit, you can see a lot of long-term relief. Try to sit with your legs out in front of you, not with them crossed while at a desk. Or, even better, try to stand and work if possible. Avoid sitting for long periods as this will cause pain in the front of your hips.

Try a natural pain reliever

You can take pain relief medication to ease your hip pain, but this starts you down a slippery slope. Instead, it’s better to look for natural pain relief. There are plenty of options, but one of the most popular at the moment is CBD. While the CBD benefits are numerous, a key one is that it can reduce inflammation and help with muscle and joint pain. Seeing as we’re dealing with the hip, that’s exactly the type of relief you’re looking for. With a natural pain reliever like this – and there are others out there – you get to enjoy less pain without worrying about all the drugs in your body.

Most hip pain is caused by poor posture and muscle imbalances, but there can be other reasons for it. The ideas above will definitely help you relieve your pain, but you should still get yourself assessed by a medical professional to understand why your hip hurts.
