There never needs to be an occasion to dress up and look beautiful but most women don’t realize that they don’t necessarily need to doll up and add makeup to look fantastic in the first place. There is a lot of pressure placed on us girls to look a certain way. Thigh gaps, hip dips, hotdog legs – these are all just some of the trends that have been in magazines in recent years, and they’re not the only thing we hang our confidence on. If our makeup isn’t blended correctly, our fake tan not more evenly spread, our clothing not ‘on point’, then we don’t quite fit.
The thing is, most women don’t realize that it’s okay to be a square peg – we don’t all need to fit into a round hole. You don’t have to get up in the morning at stupid o’clock to blend in ten different foundations and highlighters just to have a ‘natural look’. All you need is to feel good within your skin. Do you feel good without makeup? Don’t wear it. Do you hate hiding away in baggy and colorless clothes because you’re made to feel like you have to hide your shape? Stop doing that. You can get up and splash your face and be ready for the day simply by wearing your own face – and not painting on someone else’s that you found on YouTube.
As a woman, you should be looking for boutiques near you to find the most colorful dresses, the boots that make you feel ten feet tall and the stockings with the seam that make you feel sexy. It’s all about how you feel. Ditch the magazines and the beauty standards put forward by the mainstream media and own your own beauty standards. Let’s face it – how can you feel good about a magazine that reports a ‘natural’ look that is made up of seven beauty blender layers and photoshop. I mean, hello?? That doesn’t even make any sense! You do not need an occasion to ‘finally’ wear makeup, or ‘finally’ buy a new dress. If a Wednesday takes your fancy to be the day you dress up and put yourself out there, then so be it. If your version of dressing up is jeans and a t-shirt – own it and you’ll look great. It all comes down to confidence.
You are a strong, confident and beautiful woman without all the fluff and if you are the sort of person that puts on the makeup to feel beautiful, you can rock it. Ignore anyone who tries to dull your sparkle by telling you that you need to wear a certain thing or look a certain way and just rock out with who you are. If people don’t like that or find your style weird, that’s not your problem, is it? It’s not your fault that they have zero imagination and cannot see you for the fantastically stunning woman you are.
