Happiness is really a state of mind...I truly believe that and this new book from Diane Wing was exactly what I needed when I received the book in the mail.
I've read several other books written by Diane Wing and each one seems to speak directly to me each time. Her style of writing and outlook on life in general is so optimistic that no matter how I'm feeling at the moment, as soon as I sit down to start reading something just "clicks" and I feel as if she's written certain words and passages just for me!
The Happiness Perspective: Seeing Your Life Differently is about self-examination and recognizing that we control our own happiness by our thoughts, actions and the way we react to certain situations and circumstances. Instead of being the victim of life, we can turn that around and merely be happy if we so choose! Amazing, isn't it?
It took me quite awhile to get in this frame of mind and I've slide backwards a few times, but I never lose site of what I want and that's happiness. If that's what you truly seek as well, then reading this book is a step in the right direction. Diane provides life changing techniques, methods and direction that is easily incorporated into your daily life. By simply transforming a thought process, habits and behaviors anyone can achieve not only happiness within themselves but also peace of mind too. A few of the process discussed in the book include:
- Turning regular household chores into meditiation activities
- Reducing the noise in your environment so you can better focus
- Saying no in effective ways that don't make you feel guilty
- Knowing who you truly are rather than trying to be everything to everyone else (My favorite!)
- Learning to do less and appreciate more
- Cleansing your thoughts to remove negativity and ground yourself
I would recommend this book to anyone...yes anyone! Even if you feel that you are at the happiest place in your life, there is so much to learn from Diane. This is a book that I will keep on my nightstand and read through and reference many, many times. Thank you Diane for enlightening me and teaching me once again!
