Modern Twist on #Prohibition Era #Cocktails for Repeal Day

December 5th marked 83 years since the repeal to Prohibition and to toast to the end of this era, Hornitos Tequila would like to share a couple of Prohibition-Style inspiried cocktails with us...each one puts a modern twist on the classic cocktail. Enjoy!

Tequila Bee's Knees (Twist on classic Bee's Knees)
  • 1 1/2 parts Hornitos Reposado Tequila
  • 3/4 part fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 part fresh cranberry juice
  • 1/2 part honey
  • Maraschino cherry
  • Lemon twist
Preparation: Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a coupe glass and garnish with a maraschino cherry and a lemon twist.

Maple Old Fashioned (Twist on classic Old Fashioned)
  • 2 parts Hornitos Black Barrel Tequila
  • 1/4 part maple syrup
  • 4 dashes Angostura bitters
  • Orange peel
  • Cinnamon stick
Preparation: Combine ingredients in a mixing glass and stir. Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice. Garnish with an orange peel and cinnamon stick.


  1. Lol! What a great way to celebrate such a milestone! I think they both look yummy. The tequila bees knees for evening cocktails and the maple old fashioned for a night cap!

  4. Never had a cocktail before the Tequila Bee's Knees sounds like it would be yummy though! I am more a vodka and oj girl, will have to give this a try.
