There are times when you don't need to travel far from home to experience the perfect weekend getaway. I was recently able to experience one of the best ever staycations with a weekend stay at the Westin Hotel in the Woodlands, Texas.
If you've never been to this upscale hotel, it's completely worth your time and the short drive from downtown Houston to check it out, whether you simply need to unplug from your daily grind or spend a couple of days reconnecting with someone special...this hotel is ideal!
The decor of the hotel is truly something to see and I did in fact, spend quite a bit of time just walking around and looking at the artwork and the incredible furnishings. Everything is so original and each piece flows into the next. I don't think there was a duplicate piece of art in any area of the hotel, which was very cool to me ~ usually hotels tend to recreate the same artwork throughout the entire property.
The infinity pool is a great place to spend time and I certainly did! The pool is adjacent to the SideBar and not only features a beautifully designed pool but also tons of lounging areas so that you can comfortably sit and hang out with friends and have a few drinks with an awesome view of the area. Although we did explore the area, there is really no reason to leave The Westin Hotel...everything you need is right there including impeccable service.
Before relaxing poolside I had the most delicious and innovative dinner at CURRENT, the on-site restaurant. While chatting with the waiter I discovered that each dish on the menu is carefully created by the chef, using only the freshest and in-season ingredients. As a matter of fact, the menu changes with each season! In addition, the drink menu at the Lobby Bar and SidBar also change with the season and are original creations of The Westin bar staff. I love that! If you have a chance to eat at CURRENT, be sure to try the Crabcake...it is so good!
This is definitely the ultimate getaway destination and one that I'd love to visit anytime. There is so much to do at the hotel and in the surrounding area with countless shopping, entertainment, and dining choices available, not to mention the river and The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. A weekend is probably not even enough time to spend here but it certainly gives you that bit of rest and relaxation needed after a long week!
**Thank you to the Westin Hotel at The Woodlands for the complimentary visit**
