Sip Your Sweets for a Thanksgiving Twist with Skinnygirl Cocktails!

Thanksgiving is a big day for a lot of different reasons...it's a day to be thankful for the things we have in life, for our wonderful family and friends and for the delicious array of food we consume on this special holiday. While Thanksgiving is the biggest day of the year for good food, let's not forget about the cocktails.

Skinnygirl Cocktails has created innovative cocktails to help celebrate your favorite dessert flavors of Thanksgiving. Those same nostalgic flavors of sweet potato, apple, and pumpkin pie can now be enjoyed as a low-calorie, delicious holiday beverage. So, plan your big dinner but don't forget to have a bit of fun while putting a spin on your holiday libations with the scrumptious flavors you long for all year round!

Since Thanksgiving is on everyone's mind right now, let's find out of few little-known facts about his gratuitous holiday. While your guests are busy filling their bellies with the yummy dishes laid out on the table, break the lull in the conversation with a few tasty turkey trivia bits!

1. If Ben Franklin has his way, the turkey would be our National Bird. That's right! In a letter to his daughter, he stated that the Eagle had a "bad moral character" but the turkey, on the other hand, was a much more "respectable bird."

2. Ever wonder how the TV Dinner came to be? In 1953, someone at Swanson misjudged the number of frozen turkeys to sell during Thanksgiving by 26 tons. To make up for the potential loss, they came up with the idea of slicing the turkey and repackaging it with trimmings, making a meal. Brilliant!

3. Abraham Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a national holiday, but it was a magazine editor, Sarah Josepha Hale who inspired it to be so. She also wrote the nursery rhyme, "Mary had a Little Lamb."

4. Black Friday may be the busiest shopping day of the year for most people, but not for plumbers. According to Roto-Rooter, Black Friday is the busiest day of the year for plumbers because after all, someone has to clean up after the household guests "overwhelm the system." No shopping for plumbers on this day!

5. Thanksgiving isn't only an American holiday. The Canadians celebrate as well, but on the second Monday in October.
