When Aladdin was released in 1993, I bought the VHS tape and kept it as I always did every Disney movie in hopes that one day my children would love Disney movies as much as I did. That very year I had my first born and as I had hoped, her first movies were Disney movies including Aladdin and Lion King. As soon as her movie interest hit, she watched them everyday ~ all day ~ over and over again!
I remember sitting on the sofa and watching Aladdin with her and singing along with the characters in the video. She would amaze me that at such a young age, she had memorized the words to the songs and the movie. It was such a fun time for us as we got to know Aladdin, Jasmine, the mischievous monkey, Abu and of course the Genie!
Now, years later, (she's 22!), I was invited to be part of an amazing group of bloggers who would have the privilege of covering the release of Aladdin Diamond Edition from the Disney vault and get a glimpse of a few behind-the-scenes tid-bits, along with a session with Disney Animator, Eric Goldberg. It was a fantastic experience. Below, watch a behind-the-scenes clip with Brad Kane, the voice of Aladdin!
With the release of Aladdin on Blu-ray, Digital HD, and Disney Movies Anywhere this week, the hype is back! I have watched the movie with all four of my kids and think it's wonderful that they all love it just as much as I did back then and as much as my oldest did as well. The memories I have will last forever and now will live in the hearts of my children.
What is your favorite Aladdin memory?
Disclosure: I was invited on an all-expense paid media trip on behalf of Disney, to facilitate this post and received the movie for review. All opinions are entirely my own.
