Safety is Everything when Driving the Mitsubishi #Outlander GT! @Mitsucars #DriveMitsubishi

Every time I am able to test drive a car, I fall in love with the car and this time was not any different.

I was able to drive this Mitsubishi Outlander GT for one week...was I impressed? Heck yeah! The Outlander was so roomy and spacious inside and with the third row seat, we always had plenty of room. As a matter of fact, I drove the Mitsubishi Outlander GT to Houston over Memorial Day weekend to attend Comicpalooza. With five kids, ranging in age from 5 to 21, the two hour trip to Houston was full of music, talking, laughing, whining and more but it was a memory that I'll always cherish. We rode in complete comfort so the trip was like a mini vacation.

Interior

The Outlander is known as a safe, "crossover SUV" and an ideal vehicle for families who need room but want to stay on budget. While not as sporty as a few of the other vehicles that I've had to test drive, the Outlander was extremely comfortable, roomy and it boasted some really great features and extras. Aside from having more than enough room for us and our bags, the Mitsubishi Outlander was impressive with features including bluetooth capabilities, heated seats and Sirius XM Radio. One that I never get used to and absolutely love is the push start button. The interior was very classic and nice looking, all black with a few fake wood panels. I'm not crazy about the fake wood look but it did bring back memories of my childhood, so it's all good! I almost forgot...this feature was a big surprise, but for once I was so happy when it rained. The windshield wipers were automatic! Technically they are "rain-sensing wipers."

Performance:

I'm not an expert on the mechanics of a vehicle, but as a long-time driver, I can say that the Mitsubishi Outlander GT is one powerful car! Whether driving in the middle of downtown Houston, on the highway or in the small town of Caldwell, Texas, this car handled perfectly and the gas mileage wasn't too bad either. The estimated fuel economy is average of 23 MPG (20 City / 28 HWY) and that's about right from my experience. We even ran into a bit of rain, and the Outlander handled just as it should!

Safety

After doing a bit of research, I found that the Mitsubishi Outlander is a Top Safety Pick with the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Wow! That's impressive!

Safety Features:
  • Electronic Stability Control
  • ABS and Driveline Traction Control
  • Side Impact Beams
  • Dual Stage Driver and Passenger Seat-Mounted Side Airbags
  • Low Tire Pressure Warning
  • Dual Stage Driver and Passenger Front Airbags
  • Curtain 1st and 2nd Row Airbags
  • Airbag Occupancy Sensor
  • Driver Knee Airbag
  • Rear Child Safety Locks
  • Outboard Front Lap and Shoulder Safety Belts -inc: Rear Center 3
  • Rear Camera
I don't know how anyone else feels, but with all of the safety features alone, the Mitsubishi Outlander GT seems like the ultimate family vehicle. It may not be fancy, but it sure is nice looking and safe! We certainly enjoyed it and my kids loved it!

Disclosure: I was granted a week long test drive thanks to Mitsubishi and DriveShop. However, all opinions are entirely my own.
