And you think you've heard it all...A Vaginal Steam Bath for Gwyneth Paltrow! #celebrities

When you keep up on celebrity gossip and trends, sometimes you hear more than you really want to and sometimes you are just completely blown away! When I say a headline this morning for a "Vaginal Steam Bath" I was so intrigued that I clicked on the article to read on...Wow!

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for hygiene and preventative procedures and although I have never participated in anything like this I think I might enjoy a day of luxury spa treatments. Apparently the Vaginal Steam Bath has so many positive effects like helping to balance female hormones and assisting with fertility issues and appointments are being booked like crazy...it's all the rage in California right now, with this particular spa going from 3 treatments to 10 per day!

On the down-side, others claim that this type of spa treatment is not good for the va-jay-jay! According to Dr. Jen Gunter, who is a board certified OB/GYN and an expert in women's disorders, steaming your lady-parts is not a good idea. Below is what she wrote in her blog:

"Steam is probably not good for your vagina. Herbal steam is not better and quite possibly worse. Mugwort or wormwood or whatever when steamed, either vaginally or on the vulva, can't possibly balance any reproductive hormones, regulate your menstrual cycle, treat depression, or cure infertility. Steam isn't going to get into your uterus from your vagina unless you are using an attachment with some kind of pressure and most definitely never do that!"

Well, that does it for me! I'm pretty sure I'll skip the Vaginal Steam Bath if ever offered to me.

What do you think? I'd love to hear your opinions...comment below!

  3. A so called "treatment" that has no proven science behind it otherwise legitimate doctors would suggest it for their patients. Gyneth has too much money and time on her hands. I actually like most of her movies but I wish her personal habits were not followed as closely as they are.

  4. I'm sure there are different recommendations being put out there about vaginal steams and that it will become diluted with popularity, but I'm personally into it.

  5. I completely agree with the Dr. It makes complete sense honestly. And we have things like the pituitary gland and other things inside that regulate the hormones, steam isn't going to do that.

  6. I do not believe it works! Like the Doctor says. WOW! what some women will do. I can not see how it helps. Women need to use common sense and see that this does not work. These Spas are making big bucks from this.
