A few weeks ago I had this amazing little car for one week to test drive…it was AWESOME! I’ve never owned a sports car before so this was a special treat for me.
When I say this is seriously one cool car, I really mean it! If I weren’t a Mom I would definitely have a car like this. Just look at it! Who wouldn’t enjoy driving this around town and on the highway? It looks super sleek, especially with the top down. Awesome! We didn’t get to put the top down much because of the rain, but it was more than cool when the weather cooperated. The retractable hard top is a cinch to operate…simply put the car in neutral, pop the convenient handle at the top of the windshield, push the button on the dash and in no time, the top has hidden itself away! Putting it back up is just as fast and easy.
The features included with this sporty 6-speed car are all made for luxury, comfort and fun:
- Body-colored power retractable hard top
- 17 inch silver aluminum wheels
- Silver seatback bar trim
- Automatic climate control
- Leather trimmed seats
- Heated seats with 5-level variable settings
- Leather wrapped parking brake
- Auto-dimming rearview mirror with Homelink
- Synthetic leather trimmed door panel trim with silver accents
- Dark gray decoration panel
- Bose audio system with AudioPilot
- 6 Disc CD Changer
- Cruise control
Did I leave anything out? Probably so, but honestly, there are so many good things to say about this vehicle that I would need more than just one post to do so.
One thing that I’ve never seen before (no, I don’t live under a rock!) is the Tire Puncture Repair Kit in the trunk. As I was checking everything out I saw this little black case and was extremely surprised…no spare tire needed. If you have a flat in the Mazda MX-5 Miata you simply use the kit to repair your tire and you’re good to go until you can get to the nearest tire store. The tire pressure monitoring system also lets you know if your tires are in need of air.
One thing that is included and a definite must-have is the power outlet which is conveniently in the center console and ready to charge your cell phone, tablet or any other device. We all have smartphones or devices that we travel with and we always need a charger, at least in my family. As I stated earlier, this isn’t a “mom-car” since it is a two-seater, but for a smaller vehicle there is plenty of room in the interior and the trunk. I actually went grocery shopping and was able to fit everything I purchased in the trunk with no problem.
I had a fantastic time driving the Mazda MX-5 Miata Grand Touring Car…it handled extremely well on my gravel driveway, on the highway and in the city. It’s everything you could want in a sports car and from what I’ve seen it’s also one of the most affordable cars in it’s class.

Disclosure: I was granted a week long test drive thanks to Mazda USA and STI, however, all opinions are entirely my own.
