I'm the type of person that is always interested in other cultures...it really doesn't matter which culture or country...they all interest me in some way. When I had the opportunity to review a new DVD from Worlds Together about Cuba, I thought, why not? I enjoy learning about people from other parts of the world and I love to expose my children to other cultures as well.
CUBA provides a ground level look at Cuba, The Pearl of the Antilles. This documentary introduces the island by delving into its topography, history, health care, religious practices, cuisine and education. The Polynesia-like eastern city of Baracoa and the nation's capital, Havana are explored. Cuba has many wonderful theaters, museums and churches throughout its beautiful cities, including Havana, one of the oldes in the Americas. The country provides free education for its citizens from Kindergarten through University and free day care for children seven and under.
My younger son who is five, was not really interested, but my other son who is 9 and I did watch this film together and it did peak his interest which also resulted in tons of questions! Overall, it was a great learning experience not only for him, but also for me!
