Trick or Treat Safety Tips

Links to this post
Trick or Treating is almost upon us, but before you send your little ones out to scare up some goodies, keep in mind that their safety is of the utmost importance. Here are a few safety tips to keep everyone safe and happy!

  • Have each child carry or wear something lit, such as a flashlight, glow bracelet or necklace, or flashing attire for visibility. Light-up shoes are also practical, and ever-so-noticeable on a dark Halloween night.
  • Adults should plan out a route in advance and check it during the daylight for such obstacles as broken sidewalks (or no sidewalks), construction, or other obstacles that could trip up trick or treaters.
  • Trick or treat in familiar neighborhoods.

  • Require well-fitting or practical shoes to be worn. While adorable as a costume accessory, trick or treaters should wear sturdy shoes and no the princess high-heel or too-large boots.
  • Avoid costumes that drag on the ground. Costumes that drag can trip up little feet or get caught on bushes or other obstacles. Not fun!
  • With the thought of comfort, pick costumes that are potty-friendly as well. While we're talking about this subject, remember to make sure everyone uses the potty before you leave the house and plan for a pit stop at some point during your trick or treating!
  • If your child's costume comes with a mask, test for full visibility and breathing. If the mask doesn't pass the test, see if you can make a few alterations before the big night!
  • Only trick or treat at houses that have a porch light on. Residents who do not wish to be bothered by trick or treaters often leave off their lights as a sign that they do not want to participate or that they are out of candy.
Remember...Safety First!

Chantal Copper Fusion 11 Inch Saute Skillet Review & Giveaway!

Links to this post
When you find the perfect cookware, cooking no longer becomes such a chore, as it does a feeling of doing something wonderful for your family. I was recently given the opportunity to review a wonderful piece of  cookware from Chantal, the 11 inch Copper Fusion Saute Skillet with Cover

This pan features a wide, flat bottom, straight sides, and a long ergonomic handle and a shorter helper handle on the other end for ease in transfer and weight balance. The tempered glass lid makes it easy to monitor and view your meal and the stay-cool handles provide a seamless interior surface. It is completely safe to use with all utensils, including metal. This Copper Fusion product is perfect for going from the stove top to the table or into the refrigerator or freezer, and completely dishwasher safe. And if that isn't enough, it's available in Chili Red or Onyx, both very attractive!

The Copper Fusion Skillet is truly an amazing pan, I find myself using this skillet for everything! Unlike other products, your food doesn't stick to the bottom of the pan and clean up is a breeze! Copper Fusion's naturally stick-resistant enamel surface does not emit toxic chemicals (such as PFOAs) while heated. This makes enamel the HEALTHIEST cooking surface available!

Made in Germany, Chantal integrates a worldwide patented process that fuses copper between two carbon steel plates for superior conductivity to create the Copper Fusion® cookware line. Copper is the best conductor of heat which means each Copper Fusion cookware piece will heat quickly and evenly, with no hotspots.

Chantal offers many fine Copper Fusion products, all equally dynamic and innovative in design. Looney Tunes Personalized Children's Book

Links to this post

Looney Tunes was always a favorite of mine as a child, so when I was given the opportunity to review this book, I was excited, especially since it was to be a personalized book!

For my personalization, I chose the story, "Off to See the Wizard", for my son, Tristan. The very first page has a dedication, "To my baby, Tristan, from Mommy...I love you!" Then the story begins, incorporating Tristan, along with his sibling and the town we live in. This book is so cool! Wouldn't it be wonderful for all of your children's books to be personalized?

Simple Beginnings For Decorating Your Room

Links to this post
If you happen to be a fan of a well-decorated home, but you simply don’t have the budget to hire an interior decorator to do the job for you, you can always go the DIY route when decorating your home. You don’t need to be intimidated by the scope of the job. While you may not be a professional decorator, you know what you like. By looking at the task simply, you'll find that there are several ways to give your home the designer look you want without having to actually hire a professional decorator.

A very popular room in the home to decorate is a bedroom. Whether it’s an oasis retreat for you and your spouse after a long and difficult day or if it is a fun and playful room for one of your children, the inspiration for these rooms can start with something very small. The launching point for a great many designs, both professional and for DIY'ers can start with something as simple as a piece of fabric that catches your eye.

This fabric can dictate the overall color of the room, the theme of the design and the other accompanying fabrics or pieces of furniture you end up using in the room when decorating. However, there are a few different approaches you can take when you’re using a piece of fabric as an inspiration for a rooms design and d├ęcor.

The first thing you’ll want to do, if the fabric is a pattern with various colors, is to coordinate the colors that you use in the room with the fabric that you've chosen. If, on the other hand, the fabric is a solid color, look for complementary colors or other fabric patterns that incorporate the color of your fabric choice.

In addition, while you’ll want to use your inspiration fabric in your design, don’t be afraid to use it as much or even as little as possible. If you want, you can use the fabric to sew large curtains with your inspiration fabric. You might want to keep it simple and use that fabric on an accessory like on an accent pillow or a handmade curtain valance. How you use the fabric will largely depend on how strong of a pattern or color it is and how much you like it.

You’ll also want to make use of the various resources you’ll find places like the BedBathStore. With the huge selection you’ll find, you can find corresponding sheet sets, comforters, drapes and other bedroom and bathroom accessories.

Lastly, remember that there are no real rules when it comes to interior design. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you like it, you should use it. As long as you’re comfortable in your bedroom and you like the way it’s decorated, that’s really all that matters.

Greek Fashion For Fall

Links to this post
For those who are new to college life, there are so many exciting elements of the transition that internalizing all of them can be head spinning. Greek life is one of the most exciting aspects of attending college, although a lot of people don’t quite know what to expect. The fact is, “going Greek” comes along with a great deal of tradition and responsibilities, and fashion is often a big part of this. Consider the following elements of Greek life to be aware of if you’re new to school, all of which can help you to get the most out of your experience.

The Daily Routine
Whether you’re joining a fraternity or a sorority, you’ve got to have the right gear on your side in order to fit in. The daily routine in Greek life is all about supporting your fraternity or sorority by wearing clothing that advertises your pledge. Those joining Alpha Kappa Alpha, for example, should do their best to stock up on as much AKA gear as possible; hats, sweatshirts and tees are all great examples. AKA Gear such as these pieces tend to be very casual in nature, and are perfect for wearing around campus. Embracing the daily routine of Greek life doesn't have to be difficult, and can actually be a lot of fun.

Special Events
A big park of Greek life comes down to the special events that occur throughout the week and almost every weekend. Whether it be a social, formal get-together or other kind of party, you’ve got to expect that you’ll need the right clothing in order to fit in with the crowd. “Greek-inspired” parties, for example, are very common, and pieces such as togas, laurel leafs and loud belts are all typically worn. For a formal event, you’ll simply want to throw on the best clothing you own and do everything possible to look your best. This can be easier said than done on a college budget, but owning even one formal ensemble can help to make sure you don’t fall short.

The Bottom Line
Joining a fraternity or a sorority can be anxiety-producing at first, but there’s no getting around the fact that it is a great way to foster community and great memories. So long as you have the right gear and ensemble pieces on your side, you shouldn't have to worry about fitting in; regardless of where you go to school.

Photo to Canvas Review & Giveaway by Signs On The Cheap

Links to this post
When I was given the opportunity to review a product for Signs on the Cheap, it didn't take me long to decide that I wanted to review a canvas print and I knew exactly which photo I would be using. When my youngest son, Tristan was born, we, of course, took lots of pictures in the hospital. One of my absolute favorites was a picture that my oldest daughter, Amanda took of Tristan and Dominic. It's just precious!

Grad-Save ~ The No-Gift Party

Links to this post

Grad-Save is an awesome way to start saving for your child's future. Instead of buying birthday gifts that only last a short while, why not give your child something that will last...their college education!

The "no-gift" party theme is becoming more and more popular, especially as the cost of college is continually increasing. This type of party allows not only parents, but friends and family to contribute to your child's education, and still celebrate the birthday boy or girl. Don't buy another toy made in China, with lead paint, when you can give a gift that will last a lifetime!

Think about this...a mere $25.00 per month can easily add up to $10,000 if you begin saving when your child is a toddler. What a great start to a college education, and for less than a dollar per day!

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post, for which I have been compensated.

The Crypt Keeper Costume Review!

Links to this post
My seven year old son, Dominic, has a slight obsession with any costume that is creepy or scary. He and his brother, Tristan, wear costumes all year long, not just for Halloween. So when deciding which costume we would choose to review, we looked through lots of zombies, vampires and all of the most frightening characters that BuyCostumes.com had to offer. He finally decided on The Crypt Master

My son, the Crypt Master!!

This costume is great! It is made very well and with lots of detail, and of course it was a perfect fit. We couldn't have asked for a better quality costume for trick-or-treating this year. An amazing costume makes for an amazing Halloween!

BuyCostumes.com has a wide variety of costumes, with sizes to fit adults, teenagers, kids and even infants. There is a character appropriate for every one's taste, whether you like the scary costumes, the funny costumes or even if you want to be your favorite super hero for the night.

Check out BuyCostumes.com for your costume needs this year!

Rockboard Scooter Review & Giveaway!

Links to this post

Once in awhile, I get to review a product that my children are super excited about..the Rockboard Scooter was definitely a hit! This scooter is actually two scooters in one, with the advanced Rockboard technology, you can tear up the pavement in rockboarding mode or quickly and simply transform the scooter into a low profile kick scooter. Assembly was super easy with very user friendly directions including a DVD so that you could actually see what the scooter is capable of doing.
The scooter that I received to review is capable of holding a person up to 200 pounds, so needless to say, the whole family was able to have fun! My seven year old son was the first one to try the Original Rockboard Scooter, and in no time at all he got the hang of it. He was zipping around the park non-stop and didn't want to leave.
